Young Leaders Weekend

In March, a group of young leaders came together in Kirkham for our Young Leaders Weekend.

2025’s focus was all about empowering young leaders through programme, helping to build programme skills, try out new activities, consider the foundations of a good quality programme and sharing best practice.

Jonathan Eales, Chief Executive, reflected:

It was great to chat to the young leaders over the weekend, to listen to their stories and to hear their ideas and enthusiasm for the possibilities that lie ahead for the organisation. There is so much we can learn from young leaders and we must all shout louder about the contribution they make, encourage them to connect with other young leaders, and have the chance to help shape the organisation at every level.  

Join us in 2026: Our next Young Leaders Weekend will take place at Carronvale House, Scotland, on 10th to 12th April 2026. The weekend will once again focus on giving young leaders an opportunity to develop, share and learn from each other, helping to boost skills and confidence levels. Bookings are open now!

Building skills through ‘Elevate’ 

We’re pleased to say that our new ‘Elevate’ development course for young leaders will return in 2025/26 with opportunities to join both face-to-face and virtually. 

Elevate was launched last session and is a new development course designed by young leaders, specifically focussing on supporting and encouraging young leaders in their transition from a young person to a young leader. This covers:  

• The changing expectations of your new role.
• Developing your leadership skills.
• Building positive relationships with others.
• Negotiating, influencing and finding your role in your Company.
• Practical skills in planning and delivering programmes.

Those taking part in 2025/26 will have the opportunity to apply for grants, which young leaders can then use to help fund an activity or equipment at their Company, allowing them to put their leadership skills into action.
