Spotlight on Hong Kong

Spring 2025
Kelvin TsangTsz Fung

Assistant General Secretary, BB Hong Kong

Through our programme, which includes awards and a promotion system, we focus on ‘whole person development’, including Christian education, practical skills and physical training.

We nurture our children and young people to become Christians, build a positive attitude towards life, develop a strong character, become good citizens who are socially aware and contribute to their communities, and of course to be servant leaders.

Over time we have expanded the activities we offer according to the changes in society and culture, however all the activities must support the Object of The Boys’ Brigade.

This year we celebrated our 65th anniversary, with different events taking place during 2024. We had an Anchor Lamb Fun Day with 500 Anchor Lamb members (ages 3-5) and parents/carers attending, and a BB sports and games festival with more than 500 people.

The main challenges we face now are mainly a shortage of leaders, which is affecting not just the BB but the Church as well. There are also about 20 uniformed youth organisations in Hong Kong, which means there are a lot of different options for young people.

The plans for the future of BB Hong Kong include:

  • Focus on supporting existing Companies as they nurture their children and young people.
  • Create engaging activities to engage more young people.
  • Social service activities to give back to the communities that we are part of and that we serve.
  • Develop international exchange programmes.
