To support and ensure that all leaders are up-to-date with the knowledge they need to understand their responsibilities and most importantly carry out their role safely, the Trustees have agreed the following changes to training requirements for Warrant Officers, Helpers and Residential Activity Helpers which came into effect on 1st June 2025:

• Newly appointed Warrant Officers, Helpers and Residential Activity Helpers must complete the Safeguarding and Managing Risk modules of YLT within 12 months of appointment.
• All currently registered Warrant Officers, Helpers and Residential Activity Helpers will be required (if they have not already done so) to have completed these two modules by 1st June 2027.

Building on the content of our two mandatory e-learning modules:

• The Safeguarding module aims to ensure participants understand their safeguarding responsibilities, and know how to recognise, respond to, report and record safeguarding concerns.
• The Managing Risk module aims to enable participants to create a safe environment for children and young people and ensure that activities are organised and delivered safely.
