In the past, most of the management workload has rested with the Captain, and whilst they may still have overall responsibility, we are encouraging there to be a Management Team within the Company, sharing the workload amongst the Captain and each of the Leaders- in-Charge.
The training looks at the role of the Captain and Leader- in-Charge, considers the Manager’s role in respect of Safeguarding and Managing Risk, effective planning, using the Company Health Check and how to manage, support and develop the team, including a wider team thinking about Company and Church relations. Participants are encouraged to personally reflect, not just on the training they have undertaken, but also what they do week by week in the Company setting.
Following the launch of the new training material, BBHQ co-ordinated a number of opportunities to complete the course, with around 350 leaders completing the course. Virtual training was offered to supplement the face-to- face delivery, which was also well received.
